Give small images more room to work. AI mode requires a compatible NVIDIA RTX GPU and a one-time Internet download of the free Real-ESRGAN engine/model, which are not bundled with the app.
Image Upscaler AI Lite enlarges PNG, JPEG, BMP and TIFF images to 2x or 4x dimensions and exports new PNG copies. Its Real-ESRGAN AI engine processes your images locally through Vulkan. No account, subscription or image-upload service is required. For 2x export, the model processes at its native 4x scale before the result is resized to 2x.
Add individual images or a batch, choose the enlargement and tile size, then compare the original and result with the before/after slider. Use Fit, 100%, 200% and 400% views to inspect the result; preview zoom does not change exported dimensions. The app displays the detected GPU and VRAM and confirms the NVIDIA backend during successful AI processing.
Keep control of your files. Choose the destination folder, keep the originals and create new PNG outputs without replacing existing files. Transparent PNG output is supported. A separate, clearly labeled CPU mode provides conventional bicubic resizing when you do not need AI enhancement; it does not silently replace failed AI processing.
Initial setup downloads the official Real-ESRGAN engine and model, explains the source and license and verifies a pinned SHA-256 checksum. After setup, image processing stays on your PC. Internet access is required for that initial download, and optional support links open only after confirmation.
AI reconstructs plausible new detail and may introduce artifacts. It does not recover unknowable ground truth or guarantee accurate faces, text or other fine detail. Review results before relying on them. The app does not generate images from text prompts. Use Help / Report AI result in the app to contact the publisher; images and diagnostics are not automatically attached.
AI mode requires a detected NVIDIA RTX GPU with a compatible Vulkan driver. This edition checks the first NVIDIA CUDA device and selects Vulkan GPU 0; unusual multi-GPU configurations may need attention. Processing capacity and speed depend on the image, enlargement, tile size, GPU and available memory. Windows 10 version 2004/build 19041 or later, x64. No ARM-native package is provided.
